Just popping by from Ravelry! I adore this pattern, and was hoping to make one for my 4 year old. I have a few questions- I have done some knitting but this would be my first sweater, is this a good starter pattern? Second, the pattern reads 4 hanks/800yards for a 4T size as well as a 6T. Just wondering if I can get away with 750 yards- are there leftovers from the 800y?? Also, are the sizes generous or smallish? I want to make one for my 6 year old as well, but she is big for her age and I don't want her to outgrow it too quickly!
Thanks so much for your advice! I have some yarn in my wishlish ready to click purchase :-)
Sorry I didn't see your question until now. Hopefully you're already blissfully knitting, but in case you still have questions....
I think its a good basic raglan cardigan, but the leaf lace can be a little challenging since you have to keep track of where you are in the lace at each row. I think you should be fine with 750yards for a 4T size, I generally overestimate the yardage requirements. What kind of a yarn are you using? The cardigan has some positive ease to it, but it all depends on your yarn and gauge.
